Get Over It

A little late, but I'm pretty pissed that South Park episode 201 will not be shown anywhere legally for at least three weeks. South Park creators received what could be considered threats when they portrayed Mohammed on episodes 200 and 201. Honestly I think it's ridiculous that extremists would threaten people who made a cartoon portraying their god, when it was not even in a derogatory way. If the catholics killed Trey Parker and Matt Stone every time Jesus was shown, they would have been dead many many seasons ago. I think everyone who would kill over a cartoon needs a serious fucking mental evaluation and some heavy prescriptions to bring them back to the real world.

Remakes

With the new Freddy movie coming out friday, I find it interesting that there is a growing trend in remakes of horror movies. In the last few years, there have been Halloween, Firday the 13th, and now there is a new Nightmare on Elm Street remake. I know the directors of these movies are trying to pay homage to the original films, but sometimes they take it too far. In my opinion, the new Friday the 13th, was the worst of the classic horrow movie remakes. The acting was sub par and the story lacked what the original had. One of the only remakes I really enjoyed was the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I feel like directors are only remaking these types of movies, because people will see them because they had seen the old ones. This will bring in more at the box office than if there was a whole new horrow movie with new characters.

Youtube

After hanging out with my friend Mary Jane, I ended up on youtube just being bored. I think it is amazing how a site like that which started with nothing became such a phenomenon and a household name. Literally anything that one could possibly think to search for is available in multiple videos. Example would be searching "silly strining cats" and youtube sent me hundreds of pages of videos to choose from. I feel with things like this, people are getting a lot less original, but they are seeing work others have done and work off of that. I just feel youtube and the internet as a whole is killing originality.
