Get Over It

A little late, but I'm pretty pissed that South Park episode 201 will not be shown anywhere legally for at least three weeks. South Park creators received what could be considered threats when they portrayed Mohammed on episodes 200 and 201. Honestly I think it's ridiculous that extremists would threaten people who made a cartoon portraying their god, when it was not even in a derogatory way. If the catholics killed Trey Parker and Matt Stone every time Jesus was shown, they would have been dead many many seasons ago. I think everyone who would kill over a cartoon needs a serious fucking mental evaluation and some heavy prescriptions to bring them back to the real world.

  1. I'm ultimately sympathetic to your point of view on this, Brian--although I think you're shutting down a real moment of needed intercultural communication rather than really getting "under the hood" on this one. There's a history with this--no coincidence that it's a cartoon (and THIS cartoon, of course) that's revisiting this scenario....
